Joyce Peterson's Obituary
Joyce Lorraine Peterson passed away peacefully at the age of 85 on Friday, January 30, 2009 at the Bethel Home in Oshkosh. She was born in Oshkosh on August 24, 1923 a daughter of the late Cliff and Adelade MacDonald. She married Frank Wiedenmeier on June 22, 1949 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, they lived in Palmer Lake, Colorado and had three children, Joe (Mary) Wiedenmeier, Shelly Reifer and Cindy Wiedenmeier. Both Frank and Cindy preceded her in death. Through the years she remained in touch with many in Colorado and was a wonderful friend to all she knew and was also known as "Gramma Mick" to her extended family in Palmer Lake. Joyce moved back to Oshkosh with her two children in 1966. In 1970 she re-married and moved to Tuscon, Arizona for 17 years. Then after returning to Oshkosh she lived at Simeanna and later at the Bethel Home. Joyce was a member of Algoma Blvd. United Methodist Church and was active in Sunday and Wednesday activities. She greatly enjoyed old movies, taking pictures, detective novels and crossword puzzles. Most of all, she enjoyed her family. She was called on many times for baby sitting duty. Joyce was grandmother to, Shannon (Josh) Schuren, and Adam Reifer, who also preceded her in death, and to Brian and Ross Wiedenmeier. She was great-grandmother to Emma, Arie and Cameron Schuren. She is further survived by a brother, Don MacDonald and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at the Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home, 865 S. Westhaven Drive in Oshkosh. A time of visitation and support will be held for the family at the funeral home on Thursday beginning at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be directed to Lutheran Homes of Oshkosh. The family wishes to thank the nurses, aides and staff at Bethel Home for the loving and professional care. Sincere thanks i also extended to Aurora Hospice for their care.
