JULIA M WESTPHAL's Obituary
Julia M. Westphal, age 81, of Oshkosh died Friday October 20, 2017 at her home with her family by her side. She was born in Mazomanie WI., on August 21, 1936 the daughter of the late Robert and Catherine Lloyd Kirch. Julia an accomplished woman graduating from UW Stout, Menomonie, WI., in 1959 with BS in Home Economics Education degree, and taught Home Economics in Prarie Farm WI. She married James Westphal in Appleton WI., on July 19, 1958. Her family settled in Pickett, WI., in 1974 where Julia was employed by the State of Wisconsin Department of Industry Labor and Human Relations until the time of her retirement in 1992.
Julia loved to travel extensively in the USA and the world. She was known as a wonderful cook by her family and friends.
Julia is survived by her husband; James Westphal of Oshkosh, two sons; Jeffrey and Kirk Westphal, both of Omro, two daughters; Brenda Westphal, Eagle River, AK., Deanne (James) Schaub, Fond du Lac, four grandchildren; Bria, T.J. Schaub, Richard, David Westphal, two great-grandchildren; Sophie, Cory Westphal, one brother; James (Ellen) Kirch, four sisters; Donna Roche, Kathleen Kelly, Carol (Tom) Cleary, and Joann Carden. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Julia was preceded in death by two brothers; Bob, David Kirch, and one sister; Rosemary Wooten.
Funeral services for Julia will be held in the Poklasny Funeral Home (870 W South Park) on Tuesday October 24, at 12:00 PM with the Rev. Matt Simonar officiating. Burial will follow in Nepeuskun Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until the hour of services.
