Junior Lee Footit's Obituary
Junior Lee Footit, age 91, of Oshkosh passed away on Sunday morning September 13, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Nekoosa, WI on June 10, 1924 the son of James and Martha (Nelson) Footit. He served his Country in the U.S. Army during WWII, landing in the invasion of Japan. Junior received the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Service Ribbon; Asiatic-Pacific Theater Service Ribbon; Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star; Good Conduct Medal 45. He married Laurel Crouch on January 16, 1948 . He Retired as a Correctional Officer in the Wisconsin State Prison System. He was a faithful member of St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Oshkosh. Junior is survived by his wife; Laurel Footit of Oshkosh. Three sons; Thomas (Lynn) Footit of Oshkosh, Michael (Jane) Footit of Oshkosh and Steven (Magdelyn) Footit of Belgium, WI. One daughter; Nancy J. Chesbro of Oshkosh. Twelve grandchildren, Thirteen great grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, fourteen siblings and his son-in-law; Robert Chesbro. Memorial services will be held on Thursday September 17, 2015 at 11 am at the Fiss & Bills Funeral Home at 865 S. Westhaven Drive. Oshkosh, WI 54904. Father Edward Looney will officiate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 am until the time of service. Military Rites will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday. In Lieu of flowers memorials should be directed to the Oshkosh Humane Society at 1925 Shelter Ct. Oshkosh, WI 54901
