Justina Basel's Obituary
Justina G. Basel, age 91, of Oshkosh passed away on Sunday evening January 8, 2012 at Eden Meadows in Oshkosh, WI. She was born in the Town of Harrison in Calumet County, WI on February 13, 1920 the daughter of John and Cecelia (Guelig) Koenigs. She married Donald P. Basel on April 26, 1941 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Omro. Justina was a faithful member of St. Jude Parish(St. Vincent Catholic Church) in Oshkosh for many years. Justina is survived by her three daughters: Mary Katherine (David) Below of Charles City, IA, Susan (Richard) Knobloch of Oshkosh and Janice (Timothy) Horejs of Oshkosh. One sister: Georgianne Bentzler of Marshfield, WI and one daughter-in-law: Harriet Basel of Lovespark, IL. Twelve grandchildren, six great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald on January 23, 1993, one son James, one brother Andrew and one sister Pauletta. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday January 12, 2012 at 10:30am at St. Jude Parish (St. Vincent Catholic Church) @ 216 W. South Park Ave. Oshkosh, WI 54902. Father Matt Simonar will be the celebrant. Visitation will be held on Wednesday January 11, 2012 from 4pm until 7pm with a 7pm prayer service at Poklasny Funeral Home @ 870 W. South Park Ave. Oshkosh, WI 54902. Visitation will also be held at the church on Thursday from 9:30am until the hour of Mass. Private committal services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Justina's name. Justina's family would like to send a Special Thank to Eden Meadows and Affinity Hospice for the wonderful care that was given to their mother.
