Karen M. Hanneman's Obituary
The only time good-bye is painful is when you know you will never say hello again. Karen has fulfilled her journey here on earth, and gracefully crossed to her heavenly home on August 27th, 2024.
Karen was born February 8th, 1942, she attended Sacred Heart School, and Oshkosh High School. Karen married William (Billy) Hanneman on December 10th, 1960 in Oshkosh, WI and together they had 4 children. Karen and Billy lived a life full of laughs and adventure. They enjoyed many years as members of the Oshkosh Boat Club. One of their greatest passions was spending time with family and friends at their property in Mt. Morris, WI. Many generations of their friends and family enjoyed campfires, meals and beverages. Friends and family will remember spending Labor Day weekend at the land, enjoying Karen’s beef stew that cooked all day over the fire in her cast iron pot. Karen cherished the memories spent boating and camping with Walter and Hope Bush and Tom and Andrea Mauritz.
Karen’s passion and her lifelong work (alongside raising her children) was Avon. For over 65 years Karen worked as an Avon sales representative, where she received many awards, recognitions and accolades for her sales accomplishments. Karen’s children have vivid memories of carrying down Avon boxes, helping her package, making deliveries and handing out Avon books. But the most important part of her Avon was the people, her customers were family to her. We all know Karen will continue selling Avon in Heaven.
Karen was a faithful woman, she loved the Lord, her family, her church and the community. She was a long-time member of the Elks Club, she loved reading and word puzzles and enjoyed cooking German and Russian foods.
Karen was blessed with the companionship of Tom Mauritz for the past 18 years; they enjoyed traveling to Texas and many other cherished memories. Karen was grateful for the bond with Tom’s family, especially his daughter Lynne (Bob) Messerschmidt.
