Katherine Treu's Obituary
Katherine “Katie” Treu, age 86, of Ripon, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at her home with family by her side. Katie was born to Josef and Theresa Selthofner on September 24, 1939 in Croatia. During World War II her family fled to Germany and after the war Katie and her family came to Culpeper, Virgina (1952) for a short time before moving to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It was there she met the love of her life, Herb Treu, and they were married on November 17, 1956. During their 69 years of marriage, they had three wonderful children, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Katie loved her family dearly and she poured that love into everything she did. She looked forward to having her family home on Sundays for lunch and sitting together on the porch. As her family grew so did her table, no one ever left hungry. The life and energy of her great grandchildren brought a sparkle to her eye. Her devotion, support and steady presence were the foundation of many cherished memories.
Katie started two restaurants and a cheese store in her younger years. She found great joy in serving her customers, offering delicious food with genuine kindness and treating everyone who walked in as extended family. She loved working alongside her own family and took pride in creating a warm, welcoming environment that felt like home.
Katie enjoyed tending to her garden, playing cards with friends, traveling to Naples Florida and enjoyed reading. Her smile and warm embrace will be missed. Her memories provide comfort and kindness, which she shared with everyone around her.
Katie is survived by her loving husband, Herb Treu, children, Jeff Treu of Ripon, Vicky (Gary) Cram of Oshkosh, Terry (Paula) Treu of Berlin; six grandchildren Tiffany (Dan) Cina of Juneau, Nic (Ariana) Cram of Oshkosh, Trina (Justin) Sinjakovic of Eden, Tamara (Jered) Koslowski of Oshkosh, Emily (Dan) Sleik of Omro, Josef Treu of Berlin; nine great grandchildren, Olivia, Landyn, Greyson, Vera, Clayton, Abraham, Hayley, Hattie and Braxton.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday November 24, 2025 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am, followed by a funeral service for Katie, at Fiss & Bills- Poklasny Funeral Home (865 S. Westahven Dr. in Oshkosh).
