Kenneth R. Schmiedel's Obituary
Kenneth Richard Schmiedel, age 76, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at the Parkview Health Care Center in Oshkosh. He was born on April 22, 1937 a son of the late Harold and Linda (Radig) Schmiedel. Ken served his country in the US Marine Corps from 1955-1959 and took part in the first landing of Lebanon and received an Honorable Discharge in 1959 as a Sargent. He worked for 20 years at the Universal Foundry until its closure. For several years he worked with his two sons as a house painter. Ken was a member of the Marine Corp League and the Oshkosh Elks Club. He will be remembered for his cooking and sense of humor or what he called giving people a hard time. He greatly enjoyed gardening and was a great father and grandpa. He is survived by and his memory will be cherished by his five children, Linda (Bob) Lambert, Bruce (Angel) Schmiedel, Steve (Kim) Schmiedel, Julie (Rick) Robl, Amy (Glen) Anderson; ex-wife, Marge Schmiedel; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren all of Oshkosh. Two brothers, Gene (Shirley) Schmiedel, Gary Schmiedel; a sister, Alice (Earl) Meitzen; one sister-in-law, Arlene Schmiedel. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Christine “Tina” Akin; brothers, Jim, Ronald and Karl; sisters, Mary Jane, Carol and Pat (Dale) King. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family wishes to thank the staff at Parkview for the excellent care that Ken received while there.
