Laurie Charles Koepke's Obituary
Laurie Charles Koepke was born to Lawrence and Bernice Koepke on July 16, 1945. He joined the United States Navy in 1965 where he proudly served until 1969. Later in life, he gave back to current and retired service men and women by volunteering with the American Legion and the Honor Guard. Laurie married Cheryl Larson in 1968 and had two daughters. In 1990, he married Doris Krueger, seeing his family grow with two sons and a daughter. Family meant the world to Laurie and he was immensely proud of all of his children. He was an extremely generous man who flourished by helping others. He was a wealth of knowledge and skill. There was not a tool he did not have, or know how to use. He retired from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh in 2005, and began teaching hunter's safety courses. He was an avid outdoorsman, but had a true passion for fishing and the peace that he found on the water. Laurie had a great relationship with the Lord, and found a new way to learn and live out God's mission through many activities in the church. There is so much more to this great man and his life than can be expressed in a small snippet. Laurie/Dad, you made an immeasurable impression upon this world and everyone you came in contact with. A great soul never leaves, but will carry on in all of us.
Laurie is survived by his wife, Doris Koepke, children Tyler (April) Krueger, Tricia (Steve) Krueger, Toni (Dean) Thiel, Trevor (Beth) Krueger, Teri Koepke, and grandchildren Samantha Fisher, Kayla (Justin) Krueger-Langer, Brandon (Rochelle) Fisher, Coleton Fisher, Brandon (Samantha) Sprecher, Melissa Sprecher, Lydia Thiel, Lucas Thiel, Skylar Krueger, and Parker Krueger, along with many extended family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at Eureka United Methodist Church on Tuesday, January 30, from 1-4pm, with a service from 4-5pm. 8832 Wisconsin St, Eureka, WI 54963. The Rev. Peter Berg will officiate.
