Lawrence J. "Larry" Schweda's Obituary
Lawrence J. “Larry” Schweda, age 83, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, May 15, 2026 at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh. He was born on October 31, 1942 in West Allis, WI a son of the late George and Arletta (Smith) Schweda. Larry married the former Isabelle A. Edwards on June 6, 1964 in Stevens Point, WI. Larry was an art teacher for 30 plus years at Merrill Middle School retiring in 1999. He had served as a supervisor for the Town of Nekimi and also was at one time on the Nekimi Volunteer Fire Dept. and helped with fire investigations in Winnebago County. Larry greatlly enjoying collecting all things but especially old cars. After retirement Larry shuttled Oshkosh Truck customers to and from Chicago making many friendships. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by and his memory will be cherished by his wife of 62 years, Isabelle; three sons, Joseph (Karla), Daniel (Ruth), and Timothy, all of Oshkosh; a brother, Kenneth Schweda of Manitowoc; four grandchildren, Carolyn (Ben) Adams, Noah Schweda, Faith Schweda and Chase Jensen. He is further survived by Lisa Jensen; other relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter Laura, and a son Andrew.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 11 am in Trinity Episcopal Church in Oshkosh with Fr. Chris Corbin officiating. A time of visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 10 am until the time of service. In lieu of floral expressions, a memorial fund will be established in his name.
