LORETTA MATSCHE's Obituary
One hundred years ago on June 11, 1914 Loretta the youngest of eleven children, was born in Oshkosh, the daughter of the late Jacob and Anna (Demler) Matsche. Shortly after her birth the family moved to Birnamwood and farmed there for many years. After her father died she returned to Oshkosh, bringing her mother with her, who she cared for until her death. Loretta died peacefully and was called home to to be with our lord on December 16, 2014. Loretta was a faithful lifetime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oshkosh.
Loretta was employed by the Deltox Rug CO., and the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, where she retired after twenty years of service. She also worked for her brother-in-law, frying the best fish and chicken in town ta Harold’s Bar. She enjoyed knitting, card playing, gardening and going to the casino. One highlight in her life was her trip to Las Vegas with several of her nieces. She enjoyed shopping and was also a member of her church’s dart ball team. She liked to reminisce about her younger days on the farm. One of her favorite stories was how she had to walk to school-cold and all, and on exceptionally cold days her lunch would freeze.
Loretta is survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and was especially close to Marlene Hielsberg, and Dona and Harry Boushele.
She was preceded in death by two infant siblings, six brothers; John (Mary), twins Roman (Alma), Joseph (Mary), Frank (Theresa), Edward (Katherine), Jacob (Isabella). Four sisters; Mary (Michael) Binder, Anna (Frank) Stiebel, Rose (Harold) Boushele Sr., and Tress (John) Frank.
A Memorial Mass for Loretta will be held on Saturday December 20, at 11:00 AM in St Jude the Apostle Catholic Church (Sacred Heart site) with the Rev. William Van De Kreeke officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the hour of services.
Loretta’s family would like to extend a special “Thank you” to all her care givers for the loving care they gave her.
