LORI DUSHENSKI's Obituary
Lori Dushenski, age 59, of Omro passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 after suffering with the many complications of ALS. She was surrounded by her loving and devoted husband, daughter, son and family members. Lori was born on May 10, 1958 in Oshkosh, the daughter of the late Louis and Lucile (Koch) Klapa. She was a graduate of Oshkosh North High School. She married Chris Dushenski on June 30, 1979 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Oshkosh and was blessed to share thirty-eight years of marriage together. She was passionate about family-a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt beyond words. Lori enjoyed visiting her children and spending time with her three grandchildren, vacation get-aways with her husband and family, and her “sisters weekends”, flavored mochas, shopping, Elvis, going to the movies and holding hands. She was able to take “bucket list” trips out west to see the mountains with her children and a family vacation to New York City. Lori was just the absolute sweetest-and ALWAYS had her BEAUTIFUL SMILE and warm hugs to give. She will remain in our hearts as gentle, loving, easy going, quiet and KIND, strong willed and warm hearted.
Lori is survived by her husband Chris, daughter Carrie (Shawn) O’Dell, son Adam (Kassy) Dushenski, grandchildren: Cullen O’Dell, Logan and Luke Dushenski, brothers Stan (Natalie) Klapa, Louie Klapa, sisters and brothers-in-law, Joan (Ron) Albright, Jill Glocke, Diane Dushenski, and Teckla (Ed) Smietanski. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Lori was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Linda Klapa, one brother Steve Klapa, mother and father-in-law Harry and Marie Dushenski, brothers-in-law Mark and Alan Dushenski.
A Celebration of Lori’s life will be held on Saturday January 27, at 3:00 PM at Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home (865 S Westhaven, Oshkosh). Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 PM until the hour of her service at 3:00 PM. Her family would appreciate all who attend to dress in casual/jeans attire.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Lori’s memory may be given to the ALS Association-WI Chapter.
Lori’s family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to the hospice nurses, doctors, care team, and Chaplain at Cherry Meadows Hospice and the Theda Care at home Hospice Nurses and Team for their kindness and compassionate care of Lori and her family during her final days. And also a special thanks to the members of The ALS support Group that Lori and her family attended.
Lori is loved dearly by family and friends, and will truly be missed by everyone who was blessed to know her. Keep giving us “THUMBS UP” from Heaven Mom/Lori!
