Lorraine Mary Kuehn's Obituary
Lorraine Mary (Berger) Kuehn, 94 years old, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Bethel Home. Lorraine was born June 23, 1921 to Frank and Mary (Zarda) Berger, the oldest of three girls. She married George "Corkey" Kuehn on July 4, 1942, and together enjoyed 72 years of marriage. George preceded her in death in 2014. She was a life-long member of St. Jude Catholic Church (Sacred Heart Church).
Lorraine was a wonderful homemaker, but did work part time for Henderson Hoyts, Purity Bakery and Reichenberger's Meat Market. She was a very creative and talented lady, and spent many hours at her sewing machine. She was a member of the Craft Group at Sacred Heart for many years, sharing her many talents with the ladies there. Her hands were always busy, either sewing, knitting or crocheting, and through the years made many keepsakes for our family.
Lorraine also loved being outdoors, where she really enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens, or just sitting in her lawn chair, enjoying the fresh air.
She was also an avid Bingo player, and did her share of winning. She loved traveling on busses to Casinos with "Corkey", and taking car trips to all but three states in the United States. Lorraine was a terrific cook and baker, especially known for her "standing rib roast" on Christmas Eve, and her delicious apple slices, made from the apples picked from the apple trees in their backyard.
She was also a very loving Mother, very family oriented, and someone you could talk with for hours on end. Our family also called her our "PR" lady, because she really liked to talk. It was a real shame when she had a stroke, and then was unable to speak.
Lorraine is survived by her two daughters, Karla (Corky) Abraham and Carol Stephenson (partner, Bob Neitzel), grandchildren, Jeff Abraham (Julie Schamens, fiancée), Eric (Brenda) Abraham and Christi Emerson. She is also survived by great grandchildren, Jacob, Ashlyn and Austin Abraham, Dawson Dake, and nieces and nephews.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her husband, parents, step-father John Neubauer, sisters, Dorothy Williquette and Phyllis Rothe, brothers-in-law Russ Williquette and Ken Rothe. Mom, now you are "together forever" with your "Georgie Porgie".
The family would like to thank the staff on 2 West at Bethel Home for their kindness and care given to our Mom. We also want to thank Affinity Nurses and Hospice Services, especially Robin.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2016, at 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Father William Van De Kreeke will be the celebrant. Visitation starting at 9:30 until the time of Mass. A memorial has been established to Bethel Home and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
