I was so sorry to learn of the passing of Lorraine. I was thinking of her last night and couldn't find her new address or phone so I googled her and her obit came up. I've known her my whole life through my sister Nancy Drexler. I certainly would have been at her funeral but I don't get the paper and didn't know until last night. If a family member should see this, please call me at 920-744-8502. Blessings to her family.
We have been friends with Lorraine and her family of origin, along with the family she and jack raised together, for most of our lives. But, I waited to come on here to pay our respects to Lorraine and to express our sympathies to her family, as we did not know exactly what to write As there were many many years of friendship. So many joyful times. So many songs to play and were sung. Along with that occasional look' from her or a knowing smile' when some one just may have hit the wrong chord in the middle of a song.
We all got together in the early days, going to alternate homes, learning to play a new chord a family member had just learned or to sing along if we wished on a new "old' song and finally forming a family band.
Lorraine was always about family. We all were not related by blood, but we were family. Her students were her family.. And Lorraine was a part of our family. She is with us still.
She lived her Christian faith. That was apparent to all who knew her.
"Well done, good and faithful servant."

My name is Sarah (Ruh) Palmer. I am the daughter of Aunt Lorraine’s younger brother Bernard. I always loved Aunt Lorraine and looked up to her even though I was taller than her by about age 12! I have been a first grade teacher for 30 years now. I also graduated with a Music minor. I play piano and sing with my kids (students) as often as I can. I know Aunt Lorraine had a part in all of this somehow! I fondly remember all the shindigs when the band (The In-Laws and Out-Laws as they jokingly called themselves a few times) would play at the Pickett Community Center. It was there that Aunt Lorraine taught me how to sing harmony. I also remember her calling my dad when the barn blew down in a big storm. Adam (my brother) and I went with him to check it out and we were very impressed!!! I also remember going to an award ceremony for Aunt Lorraine with my mother. Now Mom and I both work/ed in the Appleton district and the ceremony was, of course, in Oshkosh. While we were talking with Aunt Lorraine some other Appleton teachers came up to us and explanations were made as to how we all knew Lorraine. So here I am standing between my beautiful blue eyed, blonde haired mother and my beautiful “Ruh” Aunt and one of the teachers looks to the left of me then the right of me and says, “So that’s how you fit in Sarah! I always kind of wondered!” Yes, I look like my dad and my beautiful Ruh aunts. I shall always remember, love and miss you Aunt Lorraine.
