LuVern Kienast's Obituary
LuVern G. Kienast, age 91, of Oshkosh passed away peacefully at his home, he returned to the Lord on Tuesday morning March 24, 2015. He was born on July 23, 1923 in Red Lake, MN to Albert and Matta (Rosenthal) Kienast. LuVern married Geraldine McCarthy on August 21, 1943 in Oshkosh. Geraldine was the daughter of Chester and Esther McCarthy. He was a successful contractor/excavator in Oshkosh, his company has been in business for over 100 years. Member of the Old Car Club and went to meets and shows were he participated with his own Old Car collection. He was an active member of the Oshkosh Building Association and past president. He enjoyed his home and yard in which he landscaped and decorated with beautiful statues, trees, swimming pool, his bridge and many other decorative items including his Marilyn Monroe and Indian statues which he loved. He loved being in parades with his train and antique cars. He had many family and friends get together at his boat house and driving his boat. Enjoyed elk and deer hunting in Montana and Wisconsin with his best friend Irv Neumann. He had his favorite cat "Pretty Kitty" whom he adored and loved so much. He loved slow dancing in his driveway with his wife Geraldine. He enjoyed his Branson vacations, Vern was a real jokester and will be missed by many. Vern is survived by five children; Linda (John) Pratsch, Patsy (Leon) Larson, James Kienast, Lisa (James) Bratz and Lee (Connie) Kienast all of Oshkosh. 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Vern was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and soul mate of 61 years; Geraldine, 1 daughter; Judy Rusch, 1 grandson; Jay Michael Pratsch, 1 daughter-in-law; Barbara Kienast, 2 brothers; Raymond and Delbert and 4 sisters; Florence, Gladys , Lillian and Irene. Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 28, 2015 at 11am at the Fiss & Bills Funeral Home at 865 S. Westhaven Drive. Oshkosh, WI 54904. Rev. John Worzala Dumke will officiate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday March 27, 2015 from 4pm until 7pm and on Saturday at the funeral home from 10am until the time of service.
