Sister M. Frieda Voegerl, also known as Theresia Voegerl, age 91, died on December 26, 2018 at SSM Franciscan Courts, Oshkosh, WI.
Theresia Voegerl, born on December 4, 1927, in Matzenhof, Germany, was one of six children born to Lorenz and Krescentia (Meier) Voegerl. Theresia entered the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother in Abenberg, Germany, on Dec. 21, 1946, and came to the United States on September 6, 1949. She professed religious vows on August 12, 1950, in Milwaukee, WI, receiving the name Sister M. Frieda.
As a Sister of the Sorrowful Mother, Sister M. Frieda ministered as a dietitian from 1950 -1961 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, WI and as a domestic worker from 1961-1987 at St. Francis Residential Community in Denville, NJ and as sacristan from 1970-2015 also at St. Francis Residential Community. She retired to SSM Franciscan Courts, Oshkosh, WI in January 2016.
Sister M. Frieda was preceded in death by her parents, her three sisters and two brothers. Homecoming will be at 4:00 p.m. at SSM Franciscan Court on Sunday, December 30. Fiss & Bills Poklasny Funeral Home oversees the arrangements. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 31st at SSM Franciscan Courts, Oshkosh, WI with Rev.
