Margaret L. Gafner's Obituary
Margaret Buehring Gafner, 91, passed away on August 8, 2018 in Mesa, Arizona. She was born in Oshkosh, WI on April 5, 1927, the daughter of Fred and Louise Buehring.
Marge graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1945, went on to cosmetology school in Milwaukee, and was a beautician for many years. She owned a beauty shop in Oshkosh and also worked in Colorado.
She married Arnold Gafner on September 4, 1948. They were blessed with four children, Robert, Glen, Edward and Susan.
In 1955, they moved to a farm in Oshkosh. That property, which is now the site of the A &W restaurant on 9
th
Avenue, was sold, in 1968, to the developers of Westhaven. After the sale of the farm, they moved to Colorado where they ran a real estate business.
In 1992, Arn and Marge moved to Mesa, Arizona. Although retired, they continued to work in real estate.
Marge was a loving and caring mother. She was also a great homemaker and enjoyed cooking, baking and entertaining people in their home.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Edward, son, Glen and daughter, Susan. Arn’s siblings, Marie Kemmel, Helen Lord Burr, Jacob, Fred and Walter Gafner also predeceased her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Arnold, her son, Robert (Linda) of Atlanta, GA and her son, Edward (Nancy) of Parker, CO. Her grandchildren, Cameron, Eric, Stephanie, Chad, Keeley, Jennifer and Sarah and great-grandchildren, Jacob, Caleb, Bristol, Wyatt, Jack, Emily, Julia, Hayden and Elise also survive. Survivors also include Arn’s sisters, Ruth Denow and Florence Dickey, and many other friends and extended family.
Funeral services for Marge will be held on Saturday, August 18 at 2pm at Poklasny Funeral Home, 870 South Park Avenue, Oshkosh, WI. with Rev. Andi Wolf of Emmanuel United Church of Christ, officiating. Visitation will take place from 1pm until the time of the service. Burial will be at Ellenwood Cemetery following the funeral service.
