MARGARET "MARGE" KILLILEA's Obituary
Margaret L "Marge" Killilea
Marge was peacefully taken home by the grace of our dear Lord on January 17, 2019.
Marge was born June 6, 1923 to Henry and Margaret (Eslinger) Killilea. She grew up on the south side of Oshkosh with her four rambuncious but loving brothers. She attended St. Vincent's Grade School and Oshkosh High. Marge chose a profession of bookkeeping and accounting for her career. She worked many years for Sawacki Pontiac and Oshkosh Printers, finally retiring at 63 from The Paine Art Center.
Marge had a life-long passion for writing in various genres with poetry being her first love. She received the Wisconsin Regional Jade Ring Award along with numerous national and state honors. Marge had the joy of having her plays produced: A Mouse in the House was presented at a dinner theater, and Bedtime Story was performed at The Grand Opera House. She also published several books which are shared in area libraries for all to enjoy.
Marge was an avid Green Bay Packer fan, though sometimes she enjoyed her pizza and Pepsi more then the game itself. She loved to garden and planted many trees to beautify the neighborhood. She joined a group of friends and learned how to Country Line Dance. Marge also volunteered for many years at St. Vincent De Paul, enjoying warm friendships.
Marge devoted much of her life to her family as she opened her heart and home to all. Although she remained single and never had any children of her own, she shared her time, talents, and love with her many nieces and nephews. Our dear Aunt Marge will continue to live in all her nieces and nephews with warm and loving memories that are too many to mention. She is loved and fondly remembered by Don (Sue), Tim, Terence, and Todd (Wendy) Killilea, all of Oshkosh; Kathleen Marsh, Menasha; Jill (Bob) Gillig, IL; Sandi Mockus, AZ; Kathryn Killilea, MN; Pat (Cindy) Killilea, Judy (Dan) Sbur, Karin Zehm, and Jim (Rhonda) Killilea, all of CA; and Ted (Eileen) Killilea, NY. Marge also touched the lives of her grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
Marge's profound love for all animals led her to feed many squirrels and birds. She provided a home to several dogs though her utmost favorites were her cats. Her most recent, "Beau", who she has left in good hands, gladly provided her companionship and a filled lap.
Marge was emphatic to remain independent and did so for 95 years. In recent months Parkview Health Center became home as she received and appreciated care and love from many.
Marge is joined in eternal peace with her parents and four brothers: Donald, H. Carlton, Robert, and Thomas. She was a lifetime member of St Peter's Catholic Church. She was a devout Catholic and had a rosary at her bedside. Her prayers brought her deep comfort and peace.
We will celebrate Marge's life on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Most Blessed Sacrament Parish (St. Peter's site) at 449 High Street, Oshkosh, WI. Visitation will be at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Mass will follow with Rev. Jerome Pastors officiating. We will have a luncheon after mass at Primo's Restaurant in Oshkosh. All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established for the Oshkosh Humane Society, or any act of kindness you wish to offer would be a great honor to Marge.
