Marie Gartner's Obituary
Marie Margaret Gartner, age 87, of Oshkosh passed away on Wednesday morning March 12, 2014 at Evergreen Retirement Community. Marie was born in Oshkosh on March 24, 1926 the daughter of John and Margaret (Sitter) Jungwirth. She married Dale Gartner on October 18, 1947 at St. Vincent's Catholic Church. She was a faithful member of St. Jude Parish (Sacred Heart Church). Marie loved baking, sewing and spending time with her family. To her great grandchildren she was known as "candy gramdma". Marie is survived by her two sons; James Gartner of Wako-Shi, Japan and Michael (Nancy Knoll-Gartner)Gartner of Oshkosh. One daughter; Patricia (David) Galica of Oshkosh. One brother; Edward Jungwirth of Wetumpka, Alabama and one sister; Anna (Dean) Smith of Oshkosh. Two grandchildren; Ann (Ethon) Krueger and Catherine (Josh) Kohlman. Five great grandchildren;Dayne Riley, Kaden and Lily Krueger, Morgyn and Rylan Kohlman. Two step grandchildren; Elyse (Richard) Discher and Lesley Landgraf. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dale in 1985, two sisters; Margaret and Dolores; two brothers; Florian and Jerome. Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday March 19, 2014 at 11am at St. Jude Parish (Sacred Heart Church). Father Matt Simonar will be the celebrant. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 10am until the time of Mass. Marie's family would like to thank the entire staff at Evergreen Retirement Community and Heartland Hospice for the loving care given to their mother. In Lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established in Marie's name.
