MARILYN SAWICKI's Obituary
Sawicki, Marilyn Ann (Stilp)
80, passed away Monday morning, April 3, 2017 at 1:45AM. She was born January 15, 1937, in Menasha WI, to Roman F. and Sophie T. Stilp (nee Mitchell).
She graduated from St. Mary's High School, Menasha, 1955, and excelled in English. She then began working at Marathon, a division of the American Can Company until her gratifying duties began as a Mom. Later she worked at J.J. at Keller and Associates and even later as a secretary for ten years at St. Vincent de Paul Parish.
She was a member of the Christian Women, served on the Oshkosh Pregnancy Lifeline, the St. Vincent de Paul Parish Council, a member of St Jude’s Catholic Church (Oshkosh), and was a member of The Bells personal social club.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, James Joseph Sawicki, whom she married on October 17, 1959 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Menasha WI, by Reverend Eugene Schmidt. She is also survived by her five sons and daughter-in-laws, son Joseph and Catherine (nee Rice) of Oshkosh and their children: James and Jarmilla (nee Kavečanská), Joseph Jr. and Micayla, her son Michael and Jennifer (nee Michels) of Fond du Lac and their children: Nicholas, Rachel and Margaret, her son Daniel and Melissa (nee Lasee) of Menasha and their child Jacob, her son Robert and Jennifer (nee Herlitzke) of Waunakee and their children: Ashley, Brandon, and Justin, her son Andrew and Jill (nee Nigl) of Stoughton and their children: Meadow and Silas. She is further survived by her sister Barbara Stilp, and in-laws Carole (Sawicki) and James Born, Paul Sawicki, and Thomas Sawicki and 7 nephews and 4 nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters Diane Stilp of Neenah, and Geraldine (Ronald) Westgor of Navarino.
Marilyn was a devout Catholic, prayed continuously, and a staunch advocate for the pro-life movement.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday April 10, at 11:00 AM in St Jude the Apostle Catholic Church (St Vincent worship site) with the Rev Matt Simonar officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may call at Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home (865 S Westhaven Oshkosh) on Sunday from 2:00-4:00 PM and also on Monday at church from 10:00 AM until the hour of services.
We would also like to thank the Mercy Medical Center 2nd floor nurses and Hospice for the special care given to our Mom.
