Marlene Dreyer's Obituary
Marlene Delores Dreyer, age 87, of Oshkosh Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at The Residence of Oshkosh. She was born in Oshkosh on August 25, 1935 to Herbert and Anita Geffers.
On May 4, 1957 she was married to the love of her life, Russell Carl Dreyer. She and Russ were married for 43 years and enjoyed fishing, taking small trips and working together in their yard and garden.
Marlene was employed for many years on the custodial staff at Evergreen Manor and always loved having a dog, especially Tango. She was a lifelong Catholic who was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church. For the last two years Marlene lived at The Residence where she hosted card games on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. She had many friends, was blessed with a great sense of humor and was a true “people person” who was well-liked by everyone she met. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards and was known for her uncanny luck at both. Marlene always looked forward to an occasional Old Fashioned cocktail and loved potato chips.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and siblings; Richard, Kenneth, Michael and Fran Krueger. She is survived by siblings; Herbert Geffers Jr., Jeanne (Joe) Seager, Joyce (Mike) Cowen, David (Nancie) Geffers, Don (Sue) Geffers, Mary (David) Kind and Gerald (Debra) Geffers, in addition to sisters-in-law; Pat Geffers and Geri Geffers, brother-in-law; Fred Krueger and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday November 9, 2022 at St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church, 1225 Oregon St., Oshkosh. Visitation will take place at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.
We would like to thank the staff and nurses of The Residence of Oshkosh for all their care and compassion. Also, a very special thank you to Moment’s Hospice and Marlene’s nurses, Joy and Daphne, organizer Lauren and hairdresser Katie, whose services meant so much to Marlene.
