Marvin Clement Luck's Obituary
Marvin C Luck, age 87, of New London, passed away on Thursday October 20, 2022 at ThedaCare in New London surrounded by his loving family. Marv was born in Oshkosh, on February 5, 1935 the son of the late Alphon and Agnes Hable Luck. Until the time of his retirement he was employed at Superior Electric as an Electrician. In his younger years Marv was very honored and proud to be an Altar boy for St Josapaht’s Catholic Church in Oshkosh. He was a boy scout and also would later become a leader for his son Lawrence in scouts. He was an avid bowler, loved gardening, an all around outdoorsman, enjoying snowmobiling, hunting and fishing. but his greatest outdoor love was Iceboat Sailing. From the time he was fifteen years old up until just a couple of years ago, Marvin would be sailing his iceboats whenever the ice was good! With time he became a walking-talking iceboat historian. Always educating the next generations about the sport & the great sailors that preceded them. He was a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan from an early age. He loved watching, and feeding birds with his homemade peanut-butter suet. A very special friend to all that met him. He was always willing to give a helping hand to all. Family meant everything to him, both immediate & extended. He was a wonderful father & will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Marv is survived by one son; Lawrence (Mikki Stang) Luck, of New London, four daughters; Leslie (Clint) Morack, Hortonville, Michelle (Tim) Chmielewski, Fremont, Lisa Luck, Hixton, WI., Laurie (Mark) Judas, Princeton, best friend of thirty plus years Donna Krake, seventeen grandchildren; Melissa Johnson, Jonathan (Mallory Miles) Luck, Brandi (Adam) Berger, Katherine (Dustin) Cutter, Dalton Knapp, Heather (Justin) Spulak, Jacob (Lili) Chmielewski, Taryn Muskevitch, Caleb (Stephanie) Chmielewski, Wesley Chmielewski, Matt Abhold, Elizabeth Abhold, Zachary Krake, Brianne (Jeff) Knaack, Jared Krake, Brett Krake, Riley Krake, nineteen great-grandchildren, special friends; Alan (Pattie) Krake, Shane (Terri) Krake, Andy (Brenda) Krake, and Joe (Bev) Krake. Marv is further survived by two nieces, and many cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by one sister; Lois Magnuson, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services for Marv will be held on Saturday October 29, at 11:00 AM in Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home (865 S Westhaven Oshkosh) with the Rev Kevin Ripley officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Oshkosh. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 AM until the hour of services.
Marv’s family wishes to thank the staff at New London ThedaCare both in ER & 3rd floor for taking care of Dad, and hospice for making sure Dad was always comfortable. We also give our heartfelt thanks to Dr Hale & RN’s, Amanda, & Mikkie who helped us & Dad through these final days. His family would like to give special thanks to Fr John who came up to see Dad & give him last rites.
