Mary Ann True's Obituary
Mary Ann True (nee. Garwig), 85, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, a lifelong Presbyterian, is at peace in her Creator following a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s and cancer and the effects of injuries sustained recently in a fall. Born December 18, 1929 in Youngstown, Ohio, Mary was joined in marriage to Donovan B. True on September 2, 1950 in North Lima, Ohio. She resided with her husband at Lakeshore Manor Memory Care Center in Oshkosh but had made her home at Point Comfort on Lake Winnebago in the town of Black Wolf since 1969. She was a dedicated and loving wife and mother who found her passion in her family and the joys of homemaking. She enjoyed bird watching and the natural beauty of her lakeside home. She came from a long family tradition in Freemasonry and was a member of the Oshkosh Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star where she served for many years as the star-point Esther. She was a proud and patriotic American who always voted and flew the stars and stripes over her home. She was an avid sports lover and she could frequently be found with her husband Donovan at the sporting events of her children and grandchildren, exhibiting an ardent spirit and the voice of the most enthusiastic of cheerleaders. She loved the color red and will be remembered with a smile for her trademark red eyeglasses by all who knew and loved her. She is survived and will be deeply missed by her husband, her four children, Terrie True of Little Chute, Thomas True of Menasha, William (Teri) True of Oneida and Barbara (Robert) Gunderson of Oshkosh, as well as by her eleven grandchildren Justin, Benjamin, Nicholas, and Jonathan True, Donovan and Matthew True, Abigail, Ross and AJ True, and her namesake Molly Mary and Blair Davis. Her legacy continues in her six great grandchildren Oscar True, Brycen and Preston True, Maeve True, and Milo and Nani Lane, as well as by a new great grand baby expected in November. She was preceded in death by her parents Glenn W. Garwig, Sr. and Louella Blair Garwig, her two brothers Glenn W. Garwig, Jr. and Myron Garwig of Ohio and her grandson Michael True of Oshkosh. Mary’s funeral will be held on Monday July 13, 2015 at 7pm. at Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home, 865 S. Westhaven Dr. Oshkosh, WI. Visitation will be held on Monday at the funeral home from 4pm until 7pm. Inurnment at Oaklawn Cemetery in the town of Black Wolf. The family wishes to thank Michelle Burger and the staff of Lakeshore Manor, Mary’s Thedacare At Home hospice nurse Amy Whitbeck and the compassionate staff at Cherry Meadows Acute Hospice Care in Appleton.
