Mary L Conley's Obituary
Mary L. Conley, age 91 of Oshkosh passed away at home on Friday February 2, 2018 with her loving family by her side.
Mary was born February 24, 1926 to James F. and Catherine Grace (McGough) Burns in Milwaukee, where she graduated from Holy Angels High School and Marquette University. Mary taught school and worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs. She was a 91-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, having been enrolled on the day of her birth by her father, a past State Commander of the American Legion.
Mary was united in marriage to Thomas Conley on May 5, 1956 at St Sebastian Parish in Milwaukee and resided in Wauwatosa until moving to Oshkosh in 1972. Tom preceded her in death on April 22, 2016 after 59 years of marriage.
An avid sports fan, Mary enjoyed the Packers, Brewers and especially Marquette basketball.
Mary's kindness and Irish humor will be missed by her family and friends. She is survived by son William and daughter-in-law Cynthia of Appleton, daughter Moira of Glendale, WI. Proud grandma to Allison (Rick) Cavaiani, Andrew (fiancé Audrey Hilts), and Aimee Conley and great-grandchildren Carter and Kaylee Cavaiani. Further survived by sister-in-law Norma Burns and many nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Thomas, brothers James and Paul (Carol) and sister Patricia (Robert) Fay.
A visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday February 7, 2018 from 9-11 followed by a funeral mass at 11 at St Raphael the Archangel parish 830 Westhaven Dr., Oshkosh.
The family wished to extend their gratitude to Mary's neighbor Judy for her friendship throughout the years, the St Raphael's church community and the staff at Aurora at Home and Aurora Hospice for their care during Mary's illness.
