Mary Jane "Bubsy" Perzentka's Obituary
Mary Jane “Bubsy” Perzentka, age 70, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 11, 2021 in Oshkosh after celebrating her birthday week filled with family, friends, fun, and laughter. She was born on February 8, 1951 in Oshkosh to the late Lawrence and Helen (Berndt) Piller. She attended grade school at Sacred Heart and high school at Lourdes Academy graduating with the class of 1969. Deep in Faith she was a lifelong member of St. Jude Parish (Sacred Heart Catholic Church). At the age of 15 she became a “Candy Striper” at Mercy Medical Center on Hazel. After high school graduation she entered the nursing school at UW Oshkosh and earned her Bachelors of Nursing from UWO in 1973 She worked as a registered nurse in the ICU and later the Cath Lab where she completed 47 years of service with the same hospital before she retired to a less stressful life where she enjoyed time reading, watching the birds, and spending time with her family and friends. Her hard work and drive led to many successes in her journey in nursing and where she touched the lives of many people lucky enough to have known her in that nursing capacity. Bubsy never shied away from a party and even tried her hand at bowling and clogging. She looked forward to EAA’s AirVenture each year where many gathered at her house to watch the air show. Bubsy’s true pride and joy were her grandchildren, Addison and Grahm, they held a very special place in her heart and she loved spending time with them, never missing a chance to spoil them with love and treats.
Mary Jane is survived by her daughter, Shelly Perzentka; son, Brian (Jenny) Perzentka; five siblings, Bonnie (Michael) Baehman, James (Roxy) Piller, Margie (Michael) Puhl, Jean Shea, and JoAnn Piller; two grandchildren, Addison and Grahm Perzentka; and many nieces and nephews; grand nieces and nephews; and other family including, Piller’s, Berndt’s, Perzentka’s, which includes her cousins in Australia. She is also survived by her many friends and coworkers. She was preceded in death by her parents; niece, Becky Baehman; and godparents, Joseph and Mary Drexler.
A Memorial Service for Mary Jane will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home, 865 South Westhaven Drive Oshkosh, WI 54904. Father Louis Golamari will be officiating. A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
