Mary Fay Peterman's Obituary
Mary Fay Peterman, age 87, went home to the Lord on June 3, 2024. She was born at home on June 2, 1937 in Oshkosh, WI to Hans and Thelma (Hughes) Hansen. She became the loving and devoted wife of Nathan E. Peterman on March 2, 1974 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. She was the beloved mother of Tamera Lynn (Randy) Zimmerman, Pheonix, AZ; and Gene Alan Vesperman (partner, Marsha Lambert), Ripon, WI and Stepmother to Candy (Marshall) Potter. Proud and loving grandmother to Teddy Zimmerman of Beaverton, OR and Casey Zimmerman of Colorado Springs, CO.
Mary is further survived by her brothers-in-law, Ralph (Mary Jo) Peterman and David Peterman; sister-in-law, Dorothy Sprague; and many dear nieces and nephews.
Summertime was her favorite season with flowers to plant and birds to watch. Watching the children play and see their pets filled her with joy.
Mary was preceded in death by her father and mother (Hans and Thelma Hansen) her husband, Nathan and dear sisters, Beverly Stelter and Jacqueline Harris; mother-in-law, Leone Peterman, sisters-in-law, Charmaine VandeBerg and Jacqueline Weiler; brothers-in-law, Roman Stelter, Duke Peterman, Dale Peterman and Ed Weiler and her dearly loved grandchild, Rachael (Rae) Zimmerman (LUVU2PCS), and a dear niece, Pam Boettcher.
Mary Graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1955 and started work at Schmitt Abstract Company also the Telephone Company, Rockwell and Morgan Doors and retired from Combustion Engineering.
Mary and Nathan took many interesting trips together, honeymooned in the Bahama’s, trips to Acapulco, Hawaii, Arizona and vacationed in Florida. She helped Nathan build a A-Frame cottage on the Embarrass River which they enjoyed for many years.
Her dear neighbors, Ron and Rhonda Gronowski, were always there to help her so she could stay at home. The Timothy Trail neighbors and their children were very dear to her heart.
Mary’s little furry friends, Toto and Bentley, will be greeting her when her journey ends.
Thank you to all of Mary’s Altar Guild friends at St. John’s and all the kind and caring nurses and doctors who helped in her time of need.
Funeral Services for Mary will be held on Tuesday June 11, 2024 at Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home (865 S. Westhaven Dr.) in Oshkosh, at 1:00 pm. A time for visitation and support will be held at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the time of service on Tuesday.
