Michael Burke's Obituary
Michael G. Burke, age 68, of Oshkosh, WI passed away on Friday afternoon April 18, 2014 surrounded by his family, at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh.
Mike was born in Antigo, WI on March 22, 1946, the son of George Alton and Ardith Marie (Eaton) Burke. He married the former Dianne Marie Piette at St. Mary Catholic Church in Algoma, WI on June 8, 1968.
Mike served in the United States Army during the years of the Vietnam Conflict. He moved to Oshkosh in 1972 and was the operator and owner of Jet Car Wash and Western Car Wash for over 25 years. He was an avid fisherman, competing in many local tournaments. He also loved hunting and cooking for family and friends. Mike had a passion for country music, western movies and the sport of boxing, interests which he passed on to his children. He took great pride in the accomplishments of his children and adored his grandchildren, spending numerous hours playing and joking with them. Mike will be remembered by many for his generosity and how he was always ready to help his friends.
Mike is survived by his wife, Dianne Burke of Oshkosh; his mother, Ardith Rice of Fond du Lac, WI; sons, John (Lisa) Burke of Oshkosh and David Burke of Oshkosh; daughters, Jamie (Steve) Hahn of Columbus, WI and Mary (Matt) Geffers of Oshkosh; sister, Pat (Charly) Tillman of Three Lakes, WI; grandchildren, Sophie and Josie Burke, Gretchen and Nathan Hahn, Samuel, Elijah, Jonah and Eve Geffers; and step-grandchildren, Samuel and Maxwell Neumueller; brothers-in-law, John (Linda) and Jim Piette; sister-in-law, Teri (Jim) Graf; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, the Samuelson Family.
He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Al and Rosie Burke; stepfather Aldie Rice; parents-in-law, John and Frances Piette; brother-in-law, Joseph Piette; sister-in-law, Linda Pavlik.
Memorial services will be held at the Fiss & Bills Funeral Home on Saturday April 26, 2014 at 12 noon. Father Matt Simonar will officiate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 10am until the time of service. Military Rites will be conducted after the memorial service.
