Michael Johnston Castle's Obituary
Michael Johnston Castle died peacefully at age 76 on Monday, August 15th, 2022. He died of
complications resulting from his enjoyment of many unhealthy habits.
Mike was the fifth generation of his family to call Oshkosh home. He was in the U.S. Navy for
four years, serving with the 7th Fleet in the Pacific during the Vietnam conflict. His entire career
was with the family business, Castle Pierce, which was established in 1888. Mike had a deep
affection for the company. He took great pride, along with his brother and nephew, in
transforming the company from a commercial printing operation to a packaging producer. He
was a fourth generation member to be involved with Castle Pierce.
Mike was a man of warmth, wit and personal grace. Most of all, he hoped he would be
remembered as a kind person. He loved his country and its tradition of individual freedom and
private initiative.
He is survived by his brother, William (Margot) Castle and his sisters, Margaret (AJ) Martin,
Jane (Bill) Casper and Ann Glenn. In addition, he is survived by nine nieces and nephews and
twelve great nieces and nephews.
Per Mike’s request, private family services will be held. Donations may be made in his memory
to the Paine Art Center or the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation.

humor).
