Michael "Mike" Meisel's Obituary
Michael (Mike) Meisel, age 70, of Oshkosh passed away on April 7, 2026 while surrounded by family after a courageous 15-year battle with cancer. Mike was born on March 23, 1956 in Oshkosh and graduated from Oshkosh West High School in 1974. He worked his entire career as a mechanical assembler at Arrowhead Conveyor in Oshkosh and retired in 2021 after 40+ years.
Mike was an avid sports fan cheering on the Brewers, Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, and Oregon State Beavers. You could almost always find him wearing clothing or a baseball cap from one of his favorite sports teams. He played recreation league softball for Mabel Murphy’s and bowled in leagues for many years with his brother, nephew, sister-in-law, and friends. He was a classic rock fan and attended many live music events including Oshkosh Waterfest. Mike was also an animal lover, having had many pets over the years and enjoyed all the wildlife that visited his yard. He made sure our feathered friends were well-fed.
Mike is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Jo; daughters Jennifer Meisel (Ladd Irvine) of Corvallis, Oregon and Theresa Meisel (Chris Riend) of Madison, Wisconsin; one granddaughter, Sora Irvine; mother-in-law Theresa Reichenberger-Glasnapp; brothers- and sisters-in-law Jack (Deb) Reichenberger and Bob (Nancy) Reichenberger; sister-in-law Lois Meisel; nieces; nephews; and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Louie and Ruth Ann (Shrimpie) Meisel and his brother Tom Meisel.
The family would like to thank Dr. Noelle LoConte and the staff at the UW Health Carbone Cancer Center in Madison and Dr. Thomas Klinkhammer at ThedaCare Cancer Care in Neenah.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Oshkosh Human Society and/or the UW Health Carbone Cancer Center (Greatest Need Fund).
