Michael Schmidt's Obituary
Michael Schmidt, age 61, of Omro, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Omro on December 28, 2022. He was born in Oshkosh, on October 25, 1961 the son of Robert and Virginia (Frank) Schmidt. Mike attended Oshkosh West High School. Mike married the love of his life Donna Magnuson on May 31, 1986. She preceded him in death in March of 2000. Until the time of Mike’s retirement he was employed as a truck driver for Sysco Foods and most recently drove for U.S. Foods. Mike served in the National Guards, was a member of Walleyes for Tomorrow and he had a great joy in riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Other interests and hobbies included hunting, fishing and woodworking.
Mike is survived by his mother; Virginia Schmidt, one sister; Kathleen Gill, a niece Jody and nephews Colin and Ethan, step daughter Jessica (Cory), step grandchildren Brandi and Bronson and step-great grandchildren Kylah, Cohen and Kenslee. He is also survived by brother in-laws Donny, Doug and Dennis and sister in-law Doreen. He is also survived by his canine buddy Diesel. He was preceded in death by his wife Donna, father; Robert Schmidt, brother in-law Robert Gill and infant brother.
Funeral services for Mike will be held at Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home (865 S. Westhaven, Oshkosh) on Thursday January 5, at 5:00 PM. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 PM until the hour of services.
