Michele Westphal's Obituary
Michele "Mickey" "Mick" R. Westphal age 62 of Oshkosh, died in her home on October 19, 2009 after her courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on July 2, 1947 in Oshkosh, the daughter of Russell and Janice Kittoe Monroe of Wautoma. She graduated from Oshkosh West High School in 1965. Michele married Thomas J. Westphal of Bonduel on June 24, 1967 at Emmanuel United Church of Christ by the Rev. E.R. Rapp of Oshkosh. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. She worked all of her life at the Monroe Insurance Agency as an agent. She retired in 2001. She was a soccer mom and was very involved in the Oshkosh Youth Soccer Club, where she created the U6 teams. She enjoyed scrapbooking, country music, playing with her grandkids and time at home with her husband "Tom" on the lake.
Michele is survived by her husband Thomas, her two children, Heather Lux-Westphal of Oshkosh and Thomas M. (Lisa) Westphal of Wausau; sister Merry (Thomas) Pupeter, brother Rob (Claudia) Monroe all of Oshkosh; grandchildren, Andrew "Drew" Lux, Sheridan and Janice Monroe. Her parents Russell and Janice Monroe, brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews and friends.
In accordance with Michele's wishes, a private family service will be held at the Fiss and Bills, Poklasny Funeral Home at a later date. A memorial set in her name to the National Cancer Institute to help "Find A Cure" and a memorial in her name to Grace Lutheran Church.
The family would like to thank everyone who had us in their thoughts and prayers. A special thank you to Roxi Lemieux for her care and support.
