Minot Richardson's Obituary
Minot Neal Richardson, age 96, passed away August 12, 2021 at Good Shepherd Hospice in Lakeland Florida. He was born April 23, 1925 in Oshkosh to Myles and Viola Richardson.
Minot served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. He received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and the French Legion of Merit awards. His dedication and unwavering support of the armed forces through his many Veterans Day and Memorial Day remembrances will be sorely missed.
Upon his return from the war, Minot soon married Bette Hopp of Omro and together they raised a family of 2 sons and a daughter. Through the years he was a Scoutmaster at Sacred Heart Church. He was an avid golfer, motorcyclist and Green Bay Packers fan. Later in life he obtained his private pilot’s license, instrument rated, and served as President of the Fox Valley Flying Club. He retired from Rockwell International and he and Bette moved to Lakeland, Florida to get away from the snow and cold weather. They lived a very rewarding life in Heatherwood Retirement Community, where Minot was the bingo caller and started an annual celebration each year for Veterans Day and Memorial Day. He was a member of the Quiet Birdmen and the Veterans of Battle of the Bulge. Minot was loved and respected by all whose lives he touched.
His beloved wife Bette passed away in March of 2000. He met Vera Davies many years later and they married on August 31, 2018. Together they lived very happily until his passing.
