Muriel Metzler's Obituary
Muriel M. Metzler, age 84, of Oshkosh, passed away early on Monday morning, March 19, 2012 at her home with her family at her side after a long battle with cancer. Muriel was born on May 30, 1927 in Green Bay, WI a daughter of Joseph and Agnes Boucher. She married Leo M. Metzler on November 20, 1946 in Green Bay. Muriel worked side by side with Leo in their auto dealership, Metzler Sales & Service in Oshkosh for over 30 years. She was also the owner of Packer Ave Mini Warehouses. Muriel was member of the Winnebago County Homemakers. She enjoyed trips over the years with Leo to Punta Gorda, FL during the winter as well as weekend trips to their cabin in the central Wisconsin area. She also enjoyed annual vacations with her daughters. She loved her vegetable garden and canning, baking, sewing, and making wool rugs. Muriel was a current member of St. Jude Parish, and was a member of St. Josaphats Catholic Church and Ladies Society for over 50 years. Muriel is survived by and her memory will be cherished by her children, daughter, Diana (Tom) Hanseder; a son, Dennis (Linda) Metzler; daughters, Kaye Solomon (special friend John Hazen), Kathleen (Wayne) Daniels, Marilyn (Don) Symmonds; a brother, Gerald (Rita) Boucher, a sister-in-law, Rita Boucher, brothers-in-law, Earl (Carol) Metzler, Milton (Shirley) Metzler, sister-in-law, Sharon (Arnold) Malvitz; nine grandchildren, Lori, Jeff (Jeanne), Chad (Victoria), Marc (Iman), Andy (Jessica), David (Bobbie), Leah, Joseph, Cheryl (Brian), Carla (Terry), Jayne (Tom), Aryn (Jim), Kyal, Dayna and eleven great-grandchildren. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many very dear friends. She was preceded in death by Leo, her loving husband of 56 years who passed on October 6, 2002; her parents; a sister, Carol Boucher; brothers, Donald, David and Orby Boucher; sister-in-law, Marian Wallschlaeger; brother-in-law, William Wallschlaeger. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Muriel on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Josaphat Catholic Church, corner of Walnut and Congress Avenues in Oshkosh. The Rev. Fr. Matt Simonar will celebrate the Mass. Entombment will be in Lake View Memorial Park Mausoleum. A time of visitation and support will be held for the Metzler family on Wednesday evening from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Visitation will also be held at the church on Thursday, from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass. There will be a Parish Prayer Service at the funeral home on Wednesdy at 7 p.m. A memorial in Muriel's name is being established for Lourdes High School.
