Nile Sweet's Obituary
Nile E. Sweet, age 87, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully at his home on April 1, 2009. He was born on January 21, 1922 in Fond du Lac, a son of the late Carl C. and Theresa (Wahlen) Sweet. He served his country in the US Navy. Nile married and later divorced Nancy Brassington, who now resides in Port Charlotte, Florida. He was a retired Sales Engineer and was a member of the Sigma-Nu Fraternity at the UW-Madison. He was a member of the American Legion, was a Mason, was a member of the Professional Engineers, a board member of the Friends of The Fox and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Oshkosh. Nile greatly enjoyed his life-long passion of sailing, power-boating, snow-sking and hunting. His memory will be cherished by his daughter, Susan (Brian) Buckrop of Moline, Illinois; two grandchildren, Breanne and Kullan Buckrop; nephews, Tom, Jim and Barry Sweet. He is further survived by a special friend, Betty Bauer of Sacrameto, California; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Scott in 1982 and a brother, Robert Sweet. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home, 865 S. Westhaven Drive in Oshkosh. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund will be established.
