NORMA LUCILE MAXWELL's Obituary
Norma L Maxwell, age 96, of Oshkosh, died Friday July 1, 2016 at Bethel Home in Oshkosh. She was born in Oshkosh on March 3, 1920, daughter of the late George and Bertha Last Faust. Norma married George Edwin Maxwell in St. John’s Catholic Church in Oshkosh on June 29, 1944. He preceded her in death on December 20, 1996. She was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church (St Peter worship site).
After college, Norma taught 3rd grade in South Milwaukee, and later was a long- time substitute teacher in Oshkosh schools. She was an active volunteer in Camp Fire Girls and the Grand Opera House. She was awarded for her over 40 years of volunteering in many activities of the Oshkosh Friends of the Library. She was an active scrapbooker, needle worker, painter, and avid Hummel collector.
Norma's children and grandchildren were very fortunate to receive weekly personal letters from her for many years. She loved to participate in Maxwell family gatherings every year at New Year's and 4th of July.
Norma is survived by 5 children: Mary (Jim) Pingry, Sturgeon Bay; Susan (Tom) Repenshek, Oshkosh; Ann Marie (Frederick) Fox, Arden Hills MN; Greg (Carolyn) Maxwell, Oshkosh; Jane Maxwell-Adelmann, Bar Harbor ME; twelve grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by one grandson: Stephen Pingry; four brothers, and four sisters of the Faust family.
A Memorial Mass will be held in Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church (435 High Ave) on Friday July 8, at 2:00 PM with the Rev Jim Jugenheimer officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Friday from 1:00 PM until the hour of services. A memorial has been established to Oshkosh Friends of the Library.
