Norman Frank Rosenlund's Obituary
Norman Rosenlund, age 79 passed away March 26,2021 at his home following a battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis and Cancer. Norman Frank Rosenlund was born July 14, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Frank & Adeline Rosenlund. After Norm’s father passed away, when Norm was 8 years old, he chose to live with his Aunt Minnie & Uncle Emil Brietzke of Richford, WI., who then became his foster parents. Norm attended Richford Grade School and was confirmed at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Richford. He and his Aunt & Uncle moved to Coloma, WI where he attended Coloma Grade School, and then moved to Wautoma, WI., where he attended Wautoma High School. Norm served in the army at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and Fort Knox, Kentucky. On May 8, 1965, Norm married his wife Mary (daughter of Albert & Ethel Bumber) at Zion Lutheran Church in Neshkoro, Wi., and made their home in Oshkosh, Wi. for the past almost 56 years. Norm’s working years were as a laborer in different factories, driving truck , construction & carpentry. In his younger years, he enjoyed doing his own car maintenance, doing all his own home remodeling, plumbing, electrical work, and fixing what-ever needed to be done around the house or yard. Norm and Mary had no children, but had 2 adopted cats, first Felix for 18 years and then Tiger for 12 years, who were their babies. The cats were always sitting in Norm’s lap whenever he sat in his recliner chair to read the paper or watch TV. Norm was always looking to have a good time, going out to bars with his buddies whenever he could, but mostly going out with his wife, Mary. They enjoyed going out for Friday night fish fries, dinners on Sundays, visiting relatives, but especially listening and dancing to classic country or old rock music. They enjoyed making new friends when going to the bars, fairs, corn roasts, church picnics and cassinos for music. They followed many local bands throughout the years including Whiskey River Band, Jerry Bee & Country Sounds, Del Rays(Out of Style)and The Bobby Darren Country Band (for the last 30 years ) just to name a few. They also attended concerts of many of the big-name classic country music singers over the years. In the last few years Norm slowed down some, but still enjoyed going out for music once in a while, going to restaurants, reading the newspaper , watching TV, and getting out to do all the grocery shopping until he couldn’t any more.
Norm is survived by his wife Mary, his Sisters-in-law Lorraine Greer of Oshkosh, Virginia (Brother-in-law Robert) Besaw of Hayward, and Darlene Greer (Brother-in-law Terry Schroeder) of Oshkosh, Nephews Lorne (Jeannie) Greer of Oshkosh , Bill Greer of Berlin, and Ricky Nelson of Appleton, Nieces Annette Greer of Omro, Tammy Greer of Wautoma, Crystal (Gene) Cassidy of Berlin, Amy Greer of Oshkosh, and Tanya (Jeff) La Sure of Poy Sippi, grandnieces & grandnephews, and cousins.
