Orville I. Sather's Obituary
Orville I. Sather, age 87, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully with his daughter at his side on Friday, March 22, 2013 at the Parkview Health Care Center. He was born on September 8, 1925 in Kindred, North Dakota, a son of the late John and Ingrid (Ekre) Sather. Orville served his country in the US Navy in both WWII and Korea, having retired from the Navy. He married the former Lorraine Reif on July 6, 1946 in Oshkosh, she preceded him in death in 1992. He was a member of the American Legion, the Last's Mans Club, the Navy Retired Officers Association, Friends of the Library and Senior Center and was a Volunteer Guardian of Winnebago County from 1982 - 1995. Orville was a beloved father, grandfather and friend to all, he will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by and his memory will be cherished by a son, Gary (Ruthann) Sather of Apache Junction, AZ; a daughter, Cheryl (John) Spaulding of Oshkosh; a brother, Paul (Betty) Sather of Elcajon, CA; four grandchildren, Daniel Sather, Amanda (Kris) Olsen, Andrew Spaulding and Ann (MArty) Skibosh. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Jennings, Arnold and Terrence; three sisters, Alma, Mildred and Irene; and his special friend, Shirley Yanke.
Funeral services for Orville will be held on Monday, March 25, 2013 at 12 noon in the Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home, 865 S. Westhaven Dr. The Rev. Fr. Luke Ferris will officiate. Burial with full military honors will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
