Patricia A. Nielsen's Obituary
Patricia Ann (Ullsperger) Nielsen was born April 8, 1938 in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Pat grew up in Oconto and went on to UW-Oshkosh where she graduated with a degree in Education. This is where she met her husband, Ralph whom she married on July 9, 1960 in Oconto at St. Joseph Catholic Church. In addition to raising her 4 children, she taught 2nd grade in Waterloo and later worked with and loved many young children as a teacher’s aide for 20 years at the Childrens' Development Center which was a part of RCDD. Patricia was the adopted daughter to Echlor and Betty Ullsperger and birth daughter of Irene McLean with whom she developed a close relationship later in life. Irene, her husband, Jack and their four children welcomed her warmly into their lives. She also was fortunate to meet her birth father, William Pahl. Pat was a warm and compassionate person. She was very involved at her church St. Peter Catholic Church, now Most Blessed Sacrament Parish, she was in the choir and also various prayer groups. She enjoyed her two bridge clubs (the small and the big one), baking pies, knitting, golfing, dancing, biking, jazzer-sizing and singing with "Huff & Puff" at Parkview Health Center. She loved being with people, family, friends and neighbors. Growing up as an only child of a widow, she grew to appreciate everyone in her life as dear to her. Throughout her illness there were glimpses of her simple humor and sweet demeanor that we all appreciated so much. For some time Mom, we’ve missed your personality and your wonderful meals and your hospitality in making the holidays special. We’re glad you’re finally at peace. Thank you for giving us the best years of your life as you raised us. She is survived by her husband, Ralph, four children Beth (Russ Hildebrand) Oshkosh and Terri (Edward Lord) (grandchildren Amelia, Caroline, Ted) Richmond, VA and Tricia (Terry Mulholland) (grandchildren Bailey, Brenna, Blair) Appleton and Mark (Siegried) (grandchildren Sophia and Olivia) Oshkosh. She was preceded in death by her adopted parents, her birth father, her in-laws, Harold and Mary Nielsen, and her brother-in-law, Harold Nielsen. The family is deeply grateful to long-time caregiver Barb Gebhart. Barb took tender care of our Mother and was a blessing to all of us. And thank you to Fr.
