Patricia L. Stearns' Obituary
Patricia Leach Stearns passed away very peacefully on October 9th at her home in Oshkosh Wisconsin.
Patricia was born on November 6, 1928 in Oshkosh, the daughter of Elbert Curtis Leach and Caroline Hughes Leach.
Pat was an Oshkosh resident all of her life, but also spent time in Florida and Arizona, both as a young girl, as well as later in life. She graduated from Mt. Vernon College in Washington D.C. and also attended the University of Wisconsin Madison.
Pat married Dr. Rexford H Stearns, Jr., on April 5th 1968. Rex practiced orthodontics. In 1986, when he retired, Pat and Rex worked together to develop several real estate projects in Oshkosh, including donated conservation areas to maintain the beauty and integrity of the community in which they lived. Rex passed away in 2021.
Pat’s passion all of her life was the game of golf. Over her lifetime she was the women’s club champion in a number of clubs in the U.S. and abroad. She played well into her mid-90’s. She was also an avid ping pong player, and thoroughly enjoyed being able to play with her friends to keep active.
Pat is survived by her daughter, Susan Stearns, and her husband Christopher Jacobs, her step-grandchildren McKenzie and Ansley, her nephew Thomas E. Leach (Clara) and their children Thomas and Caroline.
Services will be private. Donations may be made in her memory to the Paine Art Center & Gardens or the Boys and Girls Club of Oshkosh.
