Paul Terry Parris' Obituary
Paul Terry Parris of Oshkosh, 75, passed away Tuesday, Nov 30th, after a lengthy battle with dementia. Paul was born in Chicago on July 29th, 1946, to Forest and Mildred Parris. His family relocated to Waukesha, where his dad started Unigas propane company. Paul graduated from Waukesha South High School, and the University of Wisconsin. After college he began working for his family’s gas business, which brought he and his family to Oshkosh in 1974. After the gas company was sold, he went to work for FedEx Ground until he retired in 2015.
Above all things, Paul enjoyed life. Whether it was going to Kitz and Pfeil on Saturday mornings to get a bag of free popcorn (yes, you read that right, a trip to a hardware store for free popcorn), attending a Badger game and singing “Varsity”, or just sitting home and watching Seinfeld reruns, he enjoyed it. Paul was physically active for most of his life and enjoyed playing and watching sports. He ran several road races and played in a Wednesday night softball league for over 20 years. Paul loved to golf, especially with his son, and was a steady fixture on the courses around Oshkosh with his “awesome foursome”. Although never a big outdoorsman, he really loved hiking in the mountains of Colorado with his daughter. Even in the later years of dementia, he would come back to us thru his love of life while playing with his grandsons.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents Forest and Mildred, and brother David. He is survived by his wife of almost 48 years Margaret; children Mathew (Carrie) Parris, Jocelyn (Scott) Schumsky, grandsons Henry and Max, sister Louise, and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation celebrating his life will be held on Sunday, December 12, 2021 from 2 pm until 4 pm in the Fiss "& Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home, 865 S. Westhaven Drive in Oshkosh. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Paul’s name to the Oshkosh Animal Shelter, or alz.org.
