Paul George Sawicki's Obituary
Paul George Sawicki, age 77, passed away peacefully at Juliette Manor in Berlin, Wisconsin on
Friday, January 12, 2024. Paul was born on March 4, 1946, in Oshkosh, WI to Joseph and Rose
Sawicki (nee Schettl). He graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1964. He worked as the
Produce Manager for 10 years at Treasure Island in Appleton and spent the last 24 years of his
career working at Oshkosh Defense Corporation. Paul had a strong work ethic rarely missing a
day, but it was the people and relationships that he built over the years that were the most
meaningful.
Paul was an avid sportsman who loved hunting, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors. He could
always be found in the woods or a field when hunting season opened or taking a boat out for
fishing when the ice cleared. There wasn't a backroad in Wisconsin that Paul couldn't drive
down and find some mischief. Paul was a people person who made great conversation with
anyone he met along the way. Paul believed in living life to its fullest and pursued his hobbies
and what made him happy every minute possible. What made him happy above all else was
spending time with his family, especially his four grandchildren.
Paul is survived by his daughter Michelle Loehr and Tim Gergen of Blaine, MN and her children
Benjamin and Alex, and his son Mark and Leah (Burkel) Sawicki of Madison and their children
Noah and Ella. He is further survived by his brother James Sawicki (Marilyn), sister Carole
(Sawicki) and Jim Born, brother Thomas Sawicki, and 9 nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Joan May Sawicki, and sister-in-law Marilyn
Sawicki.
Paul's family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to the staff at Juliette Manor for the
loving care he received for over seven years. The outstanding support and special relationships
made during that time meant the world to him. Paul's family also wishes to thank the ThedaCare
Hospice staff for their compassionate services and support.
A Memorial Mass for Paul will be held on February 3, 2024 in Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church (St Peter site 435 High Ave Oshkosh) at 11:00 AM with the Rev Jerome Pastors officiating. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Oshkosh. Family and friends may call at the church on Saturday morning from 9:30 AM until the hour of services.
