Peter J. Hansen's Obituary
Peter Joseph Hansen was called home to be with his Lord in the early morning hours of December 3rd, 2022, surrounded by his family.
Pete was born the youngest of seven children on April 6, 1967 in Oshkosh to Earl and Carol (Ganzyk) Hansen. He began working at a young age, first as a paperboy on the south side of Oshkosh, and then for Hughes' Chocolates. He graduated from Oshkosh West in 1985 and was very proud to join the U.S. Postal Service on the day that he graduated from high school. In his 37+ years as a mail carrier, he delivered to almost every address in Oshkosh. He was especially fond of his mail routes on the southside of Oshkosh, as well as his current route on the far northside. He truly loved his job and treated the people on his route like family. He especially enjoyed the wonderful men and women at the post office, who made it a joy to go to work each day, and who were so incredibly supportive during his recent health battle. '
Pete is survived by his wife of 32 years, Michelle, and their children McKenna and Jonathan, both of California. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary (Joe) Poklasny and Ann (John) Fickau; brothers, David (Kathy) Hansen, MIchael (Gloria) Hansen, Andrew (Amy) Hansen, and Tony (Terry Werner) Hansen; father-in-law, Harold Singstock, as well many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, Earl and Carol Hansen, paternal and maternal grandparents, and mother-in-law, Helen Singstock.
He loved his neighborhood in the Town of Algoma and never missed an opportunity to chat with a neighbor or take a walk or bike ride on a beautiful day. Pete loved football in any form and looked forward to the NFL draft all year long. He enjoyed a good bonfire, a great meal, sitting on his deck, pickleball, traveling throughout the Caribbean, and spending time with his family. Pete never met a stranger; everyone he talked with was simply a friend he hadn't met yet. He had an unwavering faith, a wonderful sense of humor, and he showed unparalleled kindness and respect to all people.
Pete's family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Centers in Oshkosh and Milwaukee, especially Karin and Beau, for their kindness, loving care, and dedication to his health and to him as a person.
Funeral services will take place at 12:00 pm on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Plymouth Congregational Church, 1325 Georgia Street, Oshkosh. Visitation will take place at the church on Friday, December 9, 2022 from 4:00-6:00 pm, and beginning at 11:00 am on Saturday until the time of service.
I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. - 2 Timothy
