Ralph R. Reichenberger
Ralph R. Reichenberger of Oshkosh, passed away at the age of 90 on May 7, 2013 with his family by his side.
Ralph was born in Oshkosh on June 29, 1922, the son of Fernie and Anna (Kalous) Reichenberger. He was the oldest of seven children. He went to Sacred Heart School and graduated from Oshkosh High School. In January 1940 he joined the Army National Guard – 127 Infantry 32nd Red Arrow Division. He was deployed to Australia, then combat in New Guinea and the Philippines. He was honorably discharged in August 1945. After the war, Ralph joined the family business, Reichenberger’s Market, and continued to own it with his brothers until 1975. He then worked 17 years at Robbins restaurant.
Ralph married Emmy Pertmer on December 1, 1945 at Sacred Heart Church in Oshkosh. They had four children, Carol, David, James and Jeff. Emmy passed away after almost 30 years of marriage. He then married Mary Jo (Koelbl) Troudt on September 27, 1975 at Sacred Heart Church in Oshkosh.
Ralph was a life-long member of Sacred Heart/St. Jude Parish. Ralph had many interests including fishing, cribbage, bingo, his dogs, his cottage, children, calligraphy and he actively loved to sing. Ralph most valued his family and many friends.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Reichenberger of Oshkosh, WI; his sons: David Reichenberger of Madison, WI, James Reichenberger of Stevens Point, WI, and Jeff (Julie) Reichenberger of Oshkosh, WI; his step-sons: Mark (Chris) Troudt of Oshkosh, WI and Mike Troudt of East Troy, WI. Ralph is also survived by his five grandchildren: Aaron, Kale, Eli and Emmy Reichenberger and Allison McLeod. He was also survived by his one remaining brother, Ticker (Suzy) Reichenberger. He will also be greatly missed by many family and friends.
Preceding Ralph in death were his parents, Fernie and Anna Reichenberger; his first wife, Emmy Reichenberger; his daughter, Carol Reichenberger; and his brothers, Joseph, Vern and Donald Reichenberger; and his sisters, Mary Jane Hopper and Gertrude Wilson.
A service in celebration of Ralph’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 10th at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 1025 w. 5th Ave. in Oshkosh, with Fr. Matt Simonar officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Oshkosh Area Humane Society in Ralph’s name at 1925 Shelter Ct., Oshkosh, WI 54901.
