Ralph Robert Spanbauer's Obituary
Ralph Robert Spanbauer, age 91, of Oshkosh, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, October 12, 2018. He was born on August 11, 1927 in Oshkosh a son of the late Laurence and Barbara (Hoffman) Spanbauer. Ralph married the former Neita Faye Carpenter on August 15, 1948 and she preceded him in death on August 4, 2011. Ralph greatly enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards and time spent with his grandchildren. He was greatly patriotic and loved his country having served in both the Merchant Marines and the US Coast Guard. Ralph had owned and operated Spanbauer Brothers Floor Covering with his brother Norbert. Ralph was a friend of Bill W's.
He is survived by and his memory will be cherished by a son, Ralph A. (Kay Boss) Spanbauer of Oshkosh; a daughter, Lori (Russ) Schwandt of Oshkosh; a sister, Bernice Fair of St. Louis; five grandchildren, Kristi (Tim) Valdez, Kari (Cameron) Godsill, Rustin (Lindsey) Schwandt, Leah (Brian Borchardt) Schwandt and Jacob Boss; four great-grandchildren, Alyssa Valdez, Hailee Valdez, Maxwell Godsill and Kaleb Schwandt. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Kay Horsfall; a son, Frederick John; brothers, Norman, Norbert, Lawrence and Sonny; sisters, Irene Koeck, Lorraine Spanbauer, Rose Sundquist, Loretta Strange and Betty Berdan.
Funeral services for Ralph will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home, 865 S. Westhaven Dr. in Oshkosh. Burial will follow with full military honors in Rushford Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 am until the time of service. The family would like to thank Affinity Hospice especially Ryan, Kelly, Stacey and Vi; and caregivers, Clover, Joni, Eileen and Kendall for their care and compassion.
