REGINA ROTHE
At a private an intimate gathering of her immediate family, mother was laid to rest with her husband of 62 years, at the family burial plot at Lake View Cemetery, Oshkosh, Tuesday, February 21, 2012. She had peacefully passed away Friday, February 17, 2012.
Born at home on Foster Street in Oshkosh, Friday, May 9, 1919, she was the second youngest child of Theresa (Krall) and Michael Dobish. Older siblings were George, Caroline, Marion, Henry, Carl, Josephine, Jacob, and Frank. A younger sister, Margaret, followed her into the family of 10 Dobish children.
Of German and Austrian descent, family and faith were the center of her life. She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church from its earliest days, where its original home was the second floor of Sacred Heart School. It was there that her motherfs funeral was held, when she was but a girl of twelve. She received the sacrament of communion every week of her life.
On May 26,1945, she married Marlyn Rothe, after his return from WWII active duty in the Army Air Corps. He preceded her in death September 14, 2007. While he served on missions in the European and North African theatre during the war years, mom supported the war effort by assembling the large search lamps used to scan the skies for enemy planes, at U. S. Motors in Oshkosh.
Never losing her gSouth-siderh neighborhood roots and German heritage, she found great strength in the life lessons learned there as a child. She passed that forward to her children.
She is sadly missed by her children: Marilyn Gardner (David) of Green Bay; Kathleen Chapin (Brent) of Oshkosh; and Daniel Rothe (Melinda) of Omro. By her grandchildren: Kristin Bass, Green Bay; Kathryn Gardner, Green Bay; Melissa Schutte (Jesse), Omro; and Paul Rothe, Omro. By her great grandchildren: Jaidin Bass, Green Bay; Damon Bass, Green Bay; little Kacie Schutte, Omro.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Theresa and Michael Dobish, nine brothers and sisters, and infant son, Daniel Howard.
The family asks that should friends and relatives wish to honor her memory, they do so by supporting any entity which enriches the lives of children, or the Disabled American Veterans, which mom happily supported during her lifetime.
