RICHARD "DICK" VOELKEL's Obituary
Richard D. Voelkel, age 88, of Oshkosh died Thursday March 8, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh. He was born in Oshkosh on April 12, 1929 the son of the late Herman and Marie Heinzl Voelkel. Dick served his country in the U. S. Army from 1951-1953 in the 47th Infantry stationed in Germany. He married Gertrude Sherbinow on May 26, 1956 in St. Vincents Catholic Church in Oshkosh. Gert preceded him in death on November 15, 2008. Until the time of his retirement Dick was employed at Oshkosh truck. He was a member of the Oshkosh Elk’s Club and a lifelong member of St. Vincents Catholic Church. Dick lived a very healthy and happy life up until his death, and was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.
Survivors include one son; Rick (Cindy) Voelkel, of Oshkosh, two granddaughters; Caitlyn (Marty) Vajgrt, Amber Voelkel, and one sister; Donna Bartow. Dick is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by one daughter; Mary Voelkel, brother; Dan Voelkel, and one sister; Carol Paulick.
Funeral services for Dick will be held in Poklasny Funeral Home (870 W South Park) on Wednesday March 14, at 11:30 AM with Deacon Pat Gelhar officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until the hour of services.
