Richard O. Jungwirth's Obituary
Richard O. “Dick” Jungwirth, age 88, of Oshkosh, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at the Bethel Home in Oshkosh. He was born on January 9, 1926 in Oshkosh a son of the late Otto and Marie (Avery) Jungwirth. Richard served his country in the US Army during WW II in the Phillipines, Luzon and was later part of the Japan occupation forces. Richard was a quiet man who lived for many years with his parents on Osborne Ave. and his many friends shared his interests in aviation, trains, model building, puzzles and the history of Oshkosh. He had worked for the former Deltox Rug Company for many years. Survivors include two brothers, Jerome (Jean), Robert (Nancy), both of Oshkosh; a sister, Rose Marie (Ron) Metz of Oshkosh. He is further survived by other relatives and many dear friends and his companion cat Goofy of 19 years. Funeral services for Richard will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Poklasny Funeral Home, 870 W. South Park Ave. in Oshkosh. The Rev. William VanDeKreeke will officiate. A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Full military honors will follow the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to the Military Veterans Museum in Oshkosh. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Bethel Home and Heartland Hospice for the care that was given to Richard.
