Richard Schmidt's Obituary
Richard Schmidt, age 66, peacefully passed away surrounded by his wife and children on Friday, April 10, 2015 at the Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh Wisconsin, after a battle with cancer. Richard was born September 13, 1948 to the late Raymond and Cornelia (Jung) Schmidt. Richard had six siblings Raymond (Karen), Ronald (Patricia), Ardell (Julie), Sandy Webb (Steve), Gary (Karen), Mary Windall (Greg) and has been blessed with numerous nieces and nephews. He lived in Hubertus Wisconsin until graduating and moving to Oshkosh where he was a court reporter for the Winnebago County Courthouse for nearly 40 years. Richard is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kathleen Weis. Together they had three children Thomas (Jennifer) Schmidt, Nathan (Jodie) Schmidt and Jessica (Jerrod) Meinen. Richard is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Jacob, Miles, Clara, Joey, Andrew, Caleb and Madelyn. His loving in-laws include Mother-in-law Dolores Weis, Sister-in-law Sharon (Herb) Lofy and Brother-in-law Ron Weis. Richard is faithful member of St. Jude's Catholic Church. Richard enjoyed many hobbies including mowing the lawn, gardening, golfing, biking, bowling, playing sheepshead and casino trips. Richard gave back to his community by donating his time at Bethel Home and the Making a Ride Happen Organization. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday April 15, 2015 at 11am at St. Jude Parish (Sacred Heart Church) on the corner of 6th & Knapp. Father Matt Simonar will be the celebrant. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 9am until the time of Mass. Committal services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. The family would like to extend a thank you to the wonderful care team at the Mercy Medical Center Intensive Care Unit. In Lieu of flowers the family would like donations sent to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St. Elizabeth in Richard's name: St. Elizabeth Foundation
