Robert Peter Felda's Obituary
Robert Peter (Bob) Felda, born February 22, 1936, to Peter and Clara (Kimball) Felda, passed away surrounded by his family on November 9th following a gradual decline with Alzheimer's. Born in Oshkosh, Bob graduated from Oshkosh high school in 1953. Bob was very proud to be a direct descendant of the W.W. Wright family, the third settler in Oshkosh on his Mother’s side. Following high school he joined the Air Force with his friend Eugene Burns. They shipped out together to England on a troopship filled with 1200 seasick troops. When he landed he said, "When I get off this boat I am never getting on another boat again." He never did.
Being a Westsider, Bob grew up playing golf at the city golf course with his dad Pete. One of his prized memories as a young recruit serving in the Air Force was being selected to play golf in a foursome with President Ike Eisenhower on his Goodwill Tour throughout Great Britain at the historic St. Andrews Golf Course in Scotland. He became a champion golfer including winning the Senior Plus golf tournament in 2004
Returning to civilian life he went to work for his dad at Felda’s Candle Inn on Main Street in Oshkosh. There he met his future wife Dorothy Terry in 1959. Married in 1961, they had three daughters.
Bob was an Allstate insurance agent in Oshkosh for 30 years, a self-published author of I Didn’t Do Too Bad…, and also started a successful warehousing business among other successful ventures in Oshkosh.
Bob was a past member of the Elk's Club, and a current member of the American Legion Post 364 and the Travelers Protective Association (TPA) being president of TPA Post C for over 20 years. He was very proud of being a Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clara and Peter Felda, brother Thomas Felda and close friend
Thomas Bennett. Bob is survived by his wife of 54 years Dorothy, daughters Terry Felda, Roberta (Joseph) Buyeske and Allison (Scott) Buyeske; six grandchildren, Travis, Peter, Jake, Grayson, Hannah and Daniel Buyeske; and his brother James Felda of Oshkosh.
