Robert "Bob" E. Haebig's Obituary
Robert “Bob” E. Haebig, age 81, of Oshkosh died Wednesday morning, October 17th at Aurora Medical Center. Bob was born on December 29, 1936 in Oshkosh, the only child of Edwin and Beatrice (Ellis) Haebig. He was a life-long Oshkosh resident and a 1955 graduate of Oshkosh High School.
Bob worked as an aide at Winnebago Mental Health Institute for over 30 years. He was an ardent Packers fan, avid bowler, superb tennis and softball player and most notably, played for the Local 48 softball team for nearly 15 years on Monday nights in the Industrial League. He instilled his great love for music and sports in his four children. Bob enjoyed boating and fishing on Lake Winnebago and loved to hunt pheasants with his trusted dogs Big Boy and Buttons. His beloved cockapoo, Spunky, and Scottish terrier, Laddie, were his retirement companions and preceded him in death.
Bob was most proud of his four children, twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Bob is survived by his four children Brian (Meg) Haebig from Holly Springs, NC, Steve (Linda) Haebig from Grafton, WI, Patti (Tom) McKeown from Oshkosh and Julie (Jon) Hoppe from Greenville, WI.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Evergreen nursing home and team of nurses and doctors at Aurora Medical Center for their wonderful and supportive care. Memorial contributions may be made to Evergreen Foundation.
Funeral services for Bob will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 22, 2018 in Fiss & Bills-Poklasny Funeral Home at 865 S. Westhaven Drive Oshkosh, WI 54904. Fr. Jerome Pastors will officiate. A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Riverside Catholic Cemetery.
