Robert E. Klapa's Obituary
Robert E. Klapa, 90, passed away at Aurora Medical Center in Oshkosh, WI on January 30, 2023. He was born April 8, 1932 to Edward and Lillian (Tews) Klapa.
Bob grew up in Oshkosh. He enlisted in the Army at the age of 16. He spent 8 years in the service. During this time, Bob became a paratrooper with the 187th Airborne Regimental Combat Team, seeing action in Korea.
Bob married Janet (DuFrane) on August 15, 1959. Bob worked at Rockwell as an Assembler until his retirement in 1990. Bob enjoyed fishing and snowmobiling in northern Wisconsin where he and Janet built a cottage and spent many of their weekends. After retirement, they sold the cottage and spent their winters in Harlingen, Texas.
Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janet Klapa; daughter and son-in-law, Bobbie and Vance Kramer; grandchildren, Tami Dillman and Matt Kramer; and great grandchildren, Brayden, Wayde, Hadley, and Noah. He is further survived by his siblings, Janet LeDioyt and Raymond Klapa; brother-in-law, Doug Dustman; and nieces and nephews Randy (Sandy) Harwood, Wendy (Jack) Doemel, Renee (Tom) Borisch, Gordy (Wendy) LeDioyt, Dawn Schroeder, Gail Schroeder (Pat Stimers), and Brian (Gail) Schroeder.
Preceding Bob in death are his parents Edward and Lillian Klapa, in-laws Frank and Ruth DuFrane, sister Mary Jane Dustman, brother-in-law Wayne LeDioyt, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Noreen and Ken Schroeder, and a nephew Doug Marx.
A Funeral Service for Bob will be held at 11:00 am, on Friday, February 3, 2023 at Martin Luther Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1526 Algoma Boulevard, Oshkosh. The Visitation will be from 10:00 am in the church vestibule until the time of the service. Bob will be laid to rest at Lakeview Memorial Park in Oshkosh. In lieu of flowers, the family will be making a memorial gift to Martin Luther Church.
